🧠 Sunday prompts are ideas and questions to meditate on to boost your self-awareness of how you will allocate your precious time, energy, and attention in the coming week.
Vision
This past week, I have been thinking a lot about refining my vision—what I want my career and life to look like in the next 6-12 months. It’s a creative process to think broadly about what you hold most important without thinking too deeply about how you will make it a reality.
A recent birthday and the passing of a college friend remind me that life is finite and that there are windows of opportunity that must be taken advantage of.
Crafting a vision is often an inner process, but it can also include opening yourself up to ideas from friends and family who know you best.
A few days ago, I received an impromptu telephone call from a friend. We caught up on our career pursuits, and he shared his perspectives and ideas on how I can accelerate and elevate the impact of my work in the data and AI space. His ideas helped me think more deeply about where I want to spend my time and the actions I must take.
This is catalyzing me to write a narrative of my career vision for the next 6-12 months. It would be easy to stay in the same routine, but thinking bigger and pushing myself to grow is exciting.
Writing a story will make my vision real by transforming the ideas in my head into inspirational yet tangible ideas that I can execute.
Writing a vision narrative can help you manifest your vision by reading it often. The biggest blocker to realizing our vision is ourselves, as we easily find evidence and beliefs that prevent us from pursuing it.
Neutralize regret by writing and acting upon your vision story.
Prompts
✍️ Please take 10-15 minutes today to reflect and journal on these questions:
Imagine you are doing the work that brings out your best self in 6-12 months and that you will not fail. What are you doing? Where are you doing it? Write a story of what a typical day or week looks like.
What emotions do you feel when you read this narrative?
What is one small action you can take this week toward this vision?
If you need a framework for crafting your vision, this short podcast I posted a few days ago summarizes ideas from my Inner Quest course.
Thanks for reading Graymatter, and I look forward to hearing your feedback.
